Youth Counselor/Summer Camp Counselor

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is more than just a day care, or a drop-in center for kids. It’s a fun and safe environment where kids can play, learn and develop skillsets. Youth counselors will work with Boys & Girls Club kids/members, implementing and supervising activities within specific program areas, such as Education/Career Development, Arts/Crafts, Sports/Fitness/Recreation, Health/Life skills and Career Leadership Development. This entry-level position reports to the lead camp/site counselor.

  5. Arts/Crafts
    • Deliver effective programs and encourage member participation in all core areas, with the oversight and direction of the lead counselor.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly environment at all times.
    • Adhere to all sanitation and safety procedures, including strict compliance with all current COVID related protocols.
    • Staff working with our members are considered to be in a safety-sensitive position and must submit to pre-employment drug screening, including marijuana and random drug screens, as applicable.

Education/experience requirements: 

* High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, or in school/working towards one.

* 6 months of experience working with youth or teens preferred.

 Physical requirements/work environment:

  • Must be able to perform duties which require walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting, bending for long periods of time.  May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.
  • Staff working with our members are considered to be in a safety sensitive position and are required to submit to pre- employment drug screening, including marijuana and random drug screens, as applicable.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to enter data into the computer, use the telephone and other office equipment
  • Must be able to lift, move manipulate and or hold objects up to 45 pounds. Objects that exceed the 45 -pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting or manipulating.
